Aptamers in Protein Production

Aptamers are custom designed affinity ligands (nucleic acid antibodies) capable of being incorporated into many different processes. Their specificity is driven towards targets based on stringency pressures we apply during selection. They can also be modified to fit various stages of quality control throughout production and purification. Aptamer Mediated Affinity Chromatography (AMAC) solves many of the problems associated with protein purification. By building in specific elution conditions, the aptamer can be engineered to bind the target with high affinity and specificity, yet release when desired.
